2 dates!(3) 5/5/14

Hello,

I hope you are all having a fantastic Monday. Mondays can be hard sometimes, but you can do it! Just take a second to breathe and say a prayer.

This week for us has been great. We had transfers and I was so sad to see Sister Pillar and Sister Shute go. I love them. Sister Jimenez is great. I am learning a lot from her. She is 4 days older than me, so it is fun being with someone my age 🙂

The beginning of this week was kind of hard. We had no miles so we were walking around for hours…just contacting people on campus, because everyone kept cancelling their appointments or decided not to show up. We got lost a few times. And guess what. The days we had to walk were the hottest days I can remember experiencing here in LA hahaha. We are going to definitely buy some sunblock today.
So, we were sad. Last week it seemed like this week was going to be full of lessons and teaching, but it just wasn’t happening. Our mission president has asked us to talk to at least 20 people a day, so we focused on that. One day we talked to over 30 people. It was good. We were tired, but at the end of the night we slept so well. All week we have been praying to set two baptismal dates this transfer and it definitely looked like that was not going to happen last week.

But you know what? God blesses us when we are obedient. If you don’t trust me, ask Mosiah (2:41). If you don’t trust him. Try it! Commit today to live a commandment more fully. The Lord will bless you. He is bound when you do what He asks.

This weekend we received 3 referrals for miracle people. One was a Chinese ysa who walked into the Visitor Center wanting to learn. The sisters taught him the restoration and they said he was so excited he just started reading the Book of Mormon right then and there. We can’t wait to meet with him this week.
Another ysa walked up to the Chinese Elders on campus. He said something like, “Elders. I went to your temple grounds the other day and just sat there praying. I think I need to talk to you.” We are going to have a transition lesson with him this Wednesday.
The other was from a girl in the UCLA ward. She and her friend in her major have been talking about religion. Her friend started asking her questions and researching about the church. Our first meeting was with her last night. She has been to church twice. She looked up what the Word of Wisdom is and started living by it, and yesterday she told her friend she had a headache. Her friend (the member) asked why and she said because she was fasting! What? How did she even know it was fast Sunday. Long story short, she told us she already had a day in mind for baptism and asked if she could be baptized on June 7th. She asked US if she could be baptized on a specific date! That is amazing.
Another one of our investigators came to church on Sunday. He was going to come last week, but he got in a car accident on the way. But that didn’t stop him. He came! He loved sacrament meeting and gospel principles. For the third hour Bishop suggested we go teach him a lesson because he was going to have a “surprise Chastity throw-down” lesson in Elders Quorum. Yeah…so a member came with us and we had a lesson at the Visitor Center. It went so well. He is already in 2 Nephi and we had only met twice before. He set a baptismal date for May 31st and we all walked back to Break-the-Fast. #churchrightnexttothevc #mostconvenientthingintheworld

Well. We are so happy. Last night we got to text President and the Bishops and Ward Mission Leaders of our ward about the dates that these two people set to be baptized– 1 in the YSA and 1 in UCLA. I know that God blesses us when we do our best. Those blessings are always greater than what we sacrificed.

I love y’all!!

Love,
Sister Rackleff
